No-code or code

Your no-code flow works, until it has to answer a customer.

Moving data between two apps is a good job for a flow tool. Speaking to your customers on your behalf comes with duties, and duties need code that is tested.

Two different ways to automate the same sequence of steps

A no-code flow is a chain of steps you assemble on a canvas in a tool such as Zapier, Make or n8n: when this happens, do that. A Python agent is a program we write and test, and all nine of our systems are agents of that kind. None of them runs as a flow on someone else's canvas.

Neither route is better in general, because each one suits a different kind of responsibility and a different kind of organization.

Jobs that belong in a flow

Pick a flow if most of these describe your task:

  • The work moves information from one place to another, such as a form into a spreadsheet, or a spreadsheet row into an email to yourself.
  • The whole job takes one to three steps, and the steps rarely change.
  • If it fails, nobody outside your company notices that anything went wrong.
  • You or a colleague enjoys building it and will keep maintaining it over the coming months.
  • You want the lowest possible software cost and full control over how the work gets done.

For those jobs a flow is both cheaper and quicker than anything we sell, and we would rather you used one if it fits. The pages on Zapier, Make and n8n say where each tool's limits start.

The moment the job changes

A flow stops being enough when the task is no longer moving data but speaking to people for you. Look for these signs:

  • It replies to customers, so it must say it is an AI, stop the moment someone sends a STOP, and hand the conversation to a person when a complaint arrives.
  • It sends on WhatsApp, so it must track the 24-hour window, the approved templates, and each person's opt-in.
  • It touches money, so it must stay inside the limits you set and pass anything above them to a person.
  • It must leave an audit record that you can examine afterward, along with a kill switch that immediately stops every outgoing message.
  • Someone has to take responsibility when it breaks at an inconvenient moment, and that person needs to understand what it does.

You can build every one of these duties in a flow. The trouble is that each duty needs testing, and a canvas with forty steps is hard to test and even harder to hand to someone new.

Who builds the automationYou, or a colleague of yours who has the timeWe do, to a fixed scope that we agree with you in writing
Who maintains it afterwardYou, or whoever you assign to look after itYou, or us under the managed retainer
What it costsA plan taken from the tool's own pricing pageA fixed setup fee and a fixed monthly fee
Where the finished work livesInside your own account or on your own serverAs set by the scope we agree, so ask for exports and written documentation
How it handles simple one-step jobsCheaper and quicker to set upProbably more machinery than the job needs
How it handles customer-facing work with consent, caps and hand-offYou design and test every duty yourselfBuilt in and tested, in a sandbox so far
What proves it works for a business like yoursYour own experience, built up as you goNothing yet, because we have no paying clients

The last row carries the most weight. We have not run these systems for a paying client, while a flow of your own can be working before the afternoon is over.

What each route costs

Dated, sourced tool prices are on the comparison page, build it yourself with Zapier, Make or n8n, or buy it done. Our prices are on the price list, and the calculator sets either against what the work costs you today.

Tell us the task and the tool

Send the task you want to hand over, along with the tool you use now, through the contact page. If a flow is the right answer, we will say so and you keep the fee.

Next steps

Start with the free audit.

Send one web address. In about five business days you get a short written report. If a system fits, a fixed-price scope follows.
